Henny & Roo March Box Reveal

I had a big mail day this week – 5 packages and a magazine! One of the smaller packages (a little envelope that you can’t see) held a surprise for my mom and my boyfriend, so I really don’t count that as one of MY packages. 🙂 But one of the items I was most excited to receive was my March Henny & Roo box.

With my old flock of chickens, I purchased monthly Henny and Roo boxes on a regular basis (example). Henny and Roo is a line of subscription boxes that are geared towards chickens and chicken owners. One of my favorite boxes in the past included a coupon for LIVE mealworms. That was a treat that my old girls loved.

Feeling bad that I haven’t spoiled my new flock, I ordered a March box.

Here’s what my box contained:

  • Two Hen Painting Greeting Cards [Tammy Phelps | The Colour of Water] – These are super cute and I can’t wait to use them.
  • Chicken Keeper’s Keychain [] – This is definitely going on my key ring!
  • Coupon for free bag of Dumor’s Organic Poultry Feed at Tractor Supply Co.
  • Package of Chubby Mealworms
  • DooKashi for Poultry
  • Countryside Magazine
  • Henny & Roo Rosemary Coop Spray – It’s funny, one of the posts that I have been contemplating recently was on a spray for the coop. This rosemary coop spray smells so good and helps to keep the coop fresh and repel insects.
  • Candling Flashlight – For checking on chicks developing in the eggs
  • Nesting Box Liner – which is utilized as the packaging material. I love that I can reuse it.

These girls have never experienced the wonder of what is mealworms and they quickly became obsessed with these delicious little morsels. Happy chickens equal delicious eggs in my mind and I enjoy spoiling them every now and then.

Henny and Roo May Box

Where in the world did April go and (May for that matter)? I was such a bad blogger. I had posts typed up, I just never got around to posting my pictures on them. I’ll try harder, especially as our garden is growing and flourishing!

I did receive a Henny and Roo box for April, I just never posted it. I may end up backdating the post just to have for my records.

This time around, Robb was excited about the box’s arrival, so I let him tear in to it (once it was open, his attention waned and he moved on to other things).

This is what I received:

  • Bon Temps Poulet Egg Soap – The owner of Sweet Olive Soap Works, whose name is also Emily, uses eggs from her own chickens to make this soap which softens skin and tightens pores. It smells amazing!
  • Calendula First Aid Cream – I love seeing other people’s herbal creations and I can always use more calendula products (calendula is great for wounds).
  • First Aid Kit Bag – Every month, we usually receive a first aid item. Now I have somewhere that I can put all my items (for the chickens AND the dogs).
  • Lumino Dusting Bath Powder – This was the first item the chickens received. They love their dust baths.
  • Luv Nest Nibbles – They go crazy over this stuff!
  • Tasty Grubs – I plan on feeding this to the chickens on Wednesday (I’m off of work). I know that they will go crazy and attack me.
  • Looseleaf Organic Tea from Amitea Organics- Smells amazing!
  • Tea ball with chicken charm – Very cute! This will be put to good use.
  • April/May Backyard Poultry Magazine – Always a good read, though I realized shortly after that I already had that issue. Oh well!

Henny and Roo March Box

I am loving my monthly boxes from Henny and Roo. February’s box was great and the box for March is even better!

As soon as I spotted my box waiting for me on the porch, I ripped in to it and after quickly snapping a few pictures of the content, I raced outside to share some goodies with my chickens.

This month’s box contained:

  • Sav-A-Chick Probiotic and Electrolyte 6 Pack
  • Diatomaceous Earth for Poultry by Lumino Wellness
  • Dried Mealworms from Exotic Nutrition
  • Chicken Ecstasy from Exotic Nutrition
  • Better Brooder Blend from Treats for Chickens
  • A Coupon for 1000 Free Mealworms from Rainbow Mealworms (LIVE mealworms!)
  • Feb/March 2016 Backyard Poultry Magazine
  • Chicken Gift Tags by A Found Dime Paperie (very cute!)
  • Hen Pendant from Southern Gracie

This month’s box was packaged in pine shavings which would then be used in the coop – great idea!
Chicken Ecstasy
All the chickens are showing up to the party now for some treats!
Things are really getting wild and crazy now! Sorry for the horrible picture but it takes practice to pull off a selfie with a shoulder riding chicken. By the way, this little girl (about 3 months) is brand new to our flock as of about a week ago. I’ll do a proper post on her in a bit but she’s already becoming a favorite.

Henny and Roo February Box

I love monthly subscription boxes. It’s so much fun having a random box of goodies arrive for you every month. The thing that gets me is the price, which is why I limit myself to the amount I can have every month. I am currently at 0 subscriptions boxes (woohoo), but I recently received a Henny and Roo box that might make me change my mind.

I’ve gotten lots of boxes the past few months for Belle, but I had never heard of one for chickens until I came across Henny and Roo! My box arrived last Wednesday which was perfect timing to celebrate the first egg that we have received from them in months.

I am in love with this box and will definitely try it out again for March! The boxes run $29.95 if you pay for it on a month-to-month basis (plus a shipping cost). But if you use the code SPRING, you can save 10%!

Belle is carefully investigating the contents of the box, not yet convinced that this was not another dog box for her.
She still doesn’t quite believe that there are no toys and treats in there for her.

February’s box contained:

  • Chubby Mealworms (This is the treat the chickens received on Wednesday, I may try re-hydrating some meal worms for them as well)
  • Grit Magazine
  • Lavender Lip Balm by Duck Feather Herbs
  • Brooder Bottle Cap by The Chicken Fountain
  • DooKashi Coop Deodorizer
  • Cute chicken socks
  • Bandage scissors for the first-aid kit
  • Self-adhesive bandages

It rained all night Thursday night and all day on Friday, turning one of the houses across the street into basically an island when the ditches flooded.
